Our Fees

Before hiring an attorney in Northern Virginia, you should research law firms in your area. Compare the experience, accolades, client testimonials and legal fees of the candidates you choose. At The Leiser Law Firm we have a well-earned reputation for providing clients with experienced counsel that isn’t prohibitively expensive. Additionally, we believe in being up front about our rates. We understand how important your case is and we strive to work within your budget.

One of the best ways to ensure that your money is well spent when you hire a lawyer is to make sure you follow his or her advice. Taking any action contrary to your lawyer’s counsel could negatively impact your case. Additionally, it is important that you are honest with your lawyer and disclose all the facts of your case to him or her. At the end of the day, it is important to remember that all legal cases vary in their complexities, legal requirements and required resources. Therefore, only an attorney can quote a fee for your case following an initial consultation.

Hourly rate

For hourly cases, our lawyers bill for the amount of time they spend on your case. Our attorneys’ billable rates start at $350 per hour and increase incrementally up to $400 per hour. For certain tasks, paralegals may be used to save a client money.

Flat fee

In addition to operating on an hourly rate, we quote some cases on a flat fee. This means that you pay a predetermined amount for us to complete your case. For your convenience, our firm also offers payment plan options in matters that we conduct on a flat fee basis. In some cases, a flat fee is charged for an initial court appearance with an additional fee required in the event of a subsequent court hearing.

Some of our flat fees are as follows:

  • Prenuptial / Post-Nuptial Agreement – basic
    • $1,000
  • Basic property settlement agreement
    • $1,000
  • Uncontested divorce (no-fault)
    • $1,000
  • Uncontested divorce with agreed child support
    • $1,250
  • Uncontested divorce with simple property division
    • $1,500
  • Uncontested divorce with simple property and child support
    • $1,750
  • Name change petition (not part of a divorce)
    • $400
  • Expungement of criminal record
    • $1,000

Note: Flat fees applicable for local Northern Virginia counties, but may increase if outside our usual practice region.  These legal fees do not include the costs associated with the case, such as court filing fees. These costs are usually very minimal.

Contingency

In personal injury and wage and hour cases, our lawyers operate on a contingency fee basis — meaning we only get paid if and when you receive compensation. If your case requires a different type of billing, the attorney can explain the options available for your type of case during the initial consultation.

All of our fees are subject to change without further notice on this website. Before hiring us, you are quoted the expected legal fees for your case and given a written representation agreement detailing the fees and terms of representation.
